Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account Updates Due to the American Rescue Plan Act
April 8, 2021
The Federal Government recently passed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Included in that bill were some updated provisions for Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
The State Employee Health Plan will be implementing the following provisions of the Act:
Increase in Annual Contribution Amount
SEHP members with a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account will be able to increase their maximum contribution amount to their Dependent Care FSA for Plan Year 2021 to $10,500 ($5,250 for married couples filing separately).
Any increase in the amount will be spread equally across the remaining pay periods for the year and will go into effect on the next available paycheck following a change request.
Current Dependent Care FSA members may request an increase to their contribution through the Membership Administration Portal (MAP). If employed at ESU, KSU, KU, KUMC or PSU, members should sign in here.
Change Request instructions are available here.
New members enrolling in a Dependent Care FSA may contribute up to the new maximum amount of $10,500 ($5,250 for married couples filing separately) for the remainder of 2021.
