Retiring from the State of Kansas
• If you are 65 years old or older and eligible for Medicare
→ If you have retired and are participating in Medicare:
A person may be eligible for Medicare by virtue of reaching age 65 or by being approved for total disability by the Social Security Administration.
→ If you are Medicare eligible but still working for the State of Kansas:
The State Employee Health Plan offers coverage as an active employee.
• If you are younger than 65 years old, retired but not eligible for Medicare
For members that have retired before age 65 but not eligible for Medicare, the State Employee Health Plan offers a variety of benefits through our Direct Bill Program.
